Another year of Soccer

All four of the boys starting playing soccer when they were quite young. Jaren, Carter and Tyler all started when they were three, but Kayden didn't start until he was 6. As it stands, Kayden and Tyler are the only two left playing. Team sports aren't really for Jaren and Carter just doesn't like soccer. Kayden, on the other hand is up for anything! He is such a good sport about playing sports! He really likes every sport that he tries - hooray for that. He has his Dad's athletic ability (thank goodness for that) which is so nice. This year was a great year for soccer. Kayden had an awesome coach who really COACHED! I know - amazing, right? The coach would pull the boys aside even while they were on the field, so they would remember what they had done right or wrong. He was so great and so great with Kayden. We were really lucky to have him!

Kindergarten Graduation

I can hardly believe it! Our littlest dude is now graduated from kindergarten! Grade One here we come! This is the wall with all of the self portraits. We're not sure why Tyler looks like he has horns coming out of the bottom of his head. He told me they were his shoulders!!

And, listening to his teacher say tons of wonderful (okay, that may be an exaggeration) things about him! Don't get me wrong, she did have nice things to say about him, but this year was a tough year for Tyler. He really had to try hard to keep his hands to himself and focus on the task at hand. This is one smart little dude - we just need to keep him on task! We love our Tyler and the laughter and joy he brings to our lives! Here we come grade ONE!

the many disguises of Jaren

Funny thing about my boys - they LOVE to dress up. Jaren is often coming up with interesting combinations, but he is not the only one. Tyler and Carter have a huge dress up box in their room that is used on a regular basis. They love to dress up and play imaginary type "made up ...." games. That is, made up Harry Potter or made up mythical creatures game. It is very interesting and entertaining to listen to.

In this pic, Jaren is sporting the Father's Day bow tie that he made for his dad and his magician's hat (thanks to Auntie Jodi and Uncle David for that). Keep on imagining!

What am I doing. It's 11:45 pm and I get up at around 6 am. Why am I blogging right now - crazy girl. Well, lately I have been thinking about how great my life truly is. I have a crazy, healthy family who loves me and I love them. We run around all week long to various activities and rarely get to see a clean house, but you know what, I am alright with that. Sometimes, we eat the pre-cooked chicken that you buy from the grocery store (yikes, I am a veg, I don't eat it), or hot dogs, but you know what, we are blessed to be in a place where we can afford food, clothing and a lot more than the necessities of life. We are truly blessed. We have each other.

I am blessed with good friends too and tonight, hanging out with a bunch of gals watching SYTYCD, I realized that life is good. It is good in so many ways and I need to remember that. I need to show my kids that and I need to be grateful for all that I have. (:

Wacky Hair/Pyjama Day

So, the boys school had a wacky hair day/pj day and this is what happened at our house: Tyler with some front spikes, then some back stripes. A LITTLE wacky, I'd say. Too bad mom forgot to get the colour!

Then there is the pineapple. I mean Carter. He loved his hair and wanted to leave it like this. Mom didn't go for that. It is now much shorter on top.

As for the big boys, they wore jammies, but sported normal hair. Spoiled sports!

Girls, remember the good old days when you were little and tucked your shirt in like this? What? You don't? Hmmm...maybe it was just me!

April Fools!

It's a party. These party goers look pretty happy with their pizza. After pizza, they get to have yummy ?pizza? Huh? Yep, it's April Fool's Day. And the cake, well, it's a pizza. I mean, the pizza, is a cake!

ha! It is always such fun at our house on April Fools - especially since six years ago, our crazy little Tyler was born on that very day! How appropriate for this little one to be born on the day for playing pranks!

Every year their silly mom plays pranks on them. Usually they involve food of some sort. This year they had bugs in their lunch. Last year, I switched out the chips from their chip bags, put in honeycomb cereal and sealed them back up. One year for supper we had mashed potatoes with gravy (aka ice cream and caramel sauce) and chicken nuggets (chocolates brushed with melted butter and dipped in graham wafer crumbs). Carter cried because he didn't want gravy on his potatoes. Kayden leaned over and said, "it's ice cream!" Instantly, the tears dried up! I LOVE it!

Anyway, yes, it has taken me a long time to get this on here, but better late than never! We sure love having Tyler in our family! There is NEVER a dull moment with him around! From the "nicing his leg" first thing in the morning, to the snuggles before bed, he is a crazy, joyful, energetic, dirt loving boy!!
