Mutton busting at Magrath Days this year!  Carter is just coming out of the shoot and barely hung on for two seconds.  It was so fun to watch.  There were some kids that hung on for almost eight seconds (which put your name in for a draw for a nintendo DS), but most kids were on for about 5 or 6.

Jaren had THE most spirited sheep I have ever seen!  It bucked like crazy as soon as he got sent out of the shoot.

Tyler was the last one out of the shoot and the poor kid was barely out of there before he fell off.  A little dusty and dirty, but no DS.  All in all the boys had fun - even if it only lasted for a few seconds!  Oh and they also got to chase a chicken and a "greased" pig.  I thought Tyler would squish the chicken, and Kayden just about won for catching the pig - he had one hand on its leg, but another kid had a better hold on it!  Darn it!

Parelli Horsemanship Display

At the Halladay Family Reunion, we were treated to a Parelli Horse Display by Lindsey's uncle Don Halladay.  To find out more about Don, please check out his web site at donhalladay.com.  In this picture, Don is having the horse walk up to him by just using his body language! 

In this picture, Don is having the horse follow him.  When Don walked forward, the horse walked forward, when Don stopped, so did the horse.  Again, when Don backed up, so did his horse.  It was so neat to watch the relationship between a man and his horse.

This is the horse going around the chairs (instead of barrels).  It was so awesome!

Tyler feeding this smart horse a snack (on a side note, Tyler had a pretty serious reaction to something right after this encounter.  We have since ruled out an horse allergy.  It's either the grass or the insecticide on the horse).

This is Don with his horse.  I loved watching them work together.  Don was so patient and made it look so easy.  I know that it isn't as easy as it looks though!  Don has worked for several years with this horse and his hard work has definitely paid off!  THANKS SO MUCH for the demo!

Please be patient with me as I update/change my blog!  I am sure it is more frustrating for me than it is for you!

THIS is mom saying we can explore the "wilderness" next to the Community Center.

Hooray for Exploring!  Carter, Tyler and Wes really wanted to check out the little patch of wilderness beside the Community Center, so off we went.  During our little jaunt we even had to hop over a barbed wire fence - at which Carter asked me if we should really be doing this!  Uh, yah, of course we can, I replied!  At one point, a small group of girl COUSINS attempted to follow us, but they weren't quite as brave as us (you know, hopping the barbed wire fence and all). So, onward and upward we went - going on bear hunt?  Nope, Tyler didn't like that.  We were just exploring.  I think the most ferocious thing we came across were mosquitos and they sure got there fill from little Wes!  Poor guy!  They must love that fresh UT blood! 

Halladay Family Reunion

The Halladay Family Reunion was held July 16-18 in Cochrane this year.  As usual, we had a great time, getting together with all sorts of Halladays.  One of the things that always happen at the reunion is a Horse Shoe Tourney.  As you can see above, Kayden had his first attempt ever at Horse Shoes.  He and Grampa were on a team together.  They had a lot of fun!

This is what happens when a young boy is left unattended with a soot laden stick. 

Women are angels, and when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly....on a broomstick.  We're flexible like that.
